Climate-Positive Air Capture Plants : orca

The world’s largest climate-positive air capture and storage plant, Orca, has inaugurated its operations in Iceland. Designed by the Zurich-based carbon capture company, Climeworks, this facility is equipped with technology that safely removes CO2 from the air.

Orca is located in Reykjavik, Iceland, and sits on a quiet street adjacent to the Hellisheiði geothermal powerplant. The structure is a compact space designed to be easily replicated worldwide. Orca took a quick 15 months to build and is equipped to capture 4000 tons of C02 every year.

Christoph Gebald, the CEO of Climeworks believes Orca is equipped to one day reach global net-zero emissions. Orca is a scalable and replicable blueprint for producing clean air that can transform the carbon capture industry.
