Curvaceous Postmodern Furniture : Cassina’s Updated Soriana

Cassina’s updated Soriana seating boasts curvaceous couches. Created by the postmodern Italian architects and designers Afra and Tobia Scarpa, the sofa updates the brand’s original 1969 design.

Soriana takes its shape from the grip of a metal structure that wraps around it. The seating lacks internal support, which defines its curvaceous design. The seating is part of Cassina’s I Contemporane collection and features a range of short armchairs and long sofas. All styles are available in a series of colors, making them easy to pair with any design scheme. Soriana’s updates include the brand’s attempt to be more sustainable. The seat is made from 100% recycled blown fiber padding made from Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) recovered from the non-profit enterprise Plastic Bank.
